Applications
Hard surfacing of cutter knives, shovel-teeth and casings.
Characteristics
VHF-700B deposits the weld metal of extremely hard martensite structure which contains dispersed precipitates of carbides and borides. It is applicable to such on abrasion that a weld metal of ordinary martensite structure can not withstand. Multi-layer hardsurfacing is not applicable due to less crack resistibility because the hardness of the weld metal is extremely high. Machining is impossible on the weld metal under as-welded condition.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR WELDING
1.) Preheat at 200ºC and over in general.
2.) It is desirable to apply postweld heat treatment at about 600ºC.
3.) Under-layer welding with low hydrogen type electrodes for mild steel is needed.
4.) Dry the electrodes at 300~350ºC for 30~60 minutes before use.
